 40VDC 58000uF capacitor, any good for can crushing?

With values like this capacitor has, its probably most usable as a smoothing cap for a constant voltage, wire fed welder. A rewound MOT could likely do the job of charging it. You will also need a large value inductor to keep this capacitor from attempting to discharge through the arc, and keep it from destroying your consumable electrode parts. This would likely be very destructive to the capacitor as well. Wire fed welding is generally done starting at 18 volts and going up to 30 volts.
