I have already seen two meteors with strong coloured plasma trails, one exploded with a bright flash. It is not supposed to be very impressive this year but with some luck you might see some memorable meteors.

Sadly, we have been socked in with rain for many days. Looks like I'll miss it yet again. Are any of the photography-inclined members of 4hv going to be able to get some pictures?

I've got a camera that has taken some excellent photos of the night sky. It can do exposures up to 30 second, and has a shutter and aperture priority mode, as well as a manual mode.
The manual mode is handicapped because EV is forced into automatic if both the shutter speed and aperture are in manual.
Anyone experienced in photography able to offer some tips for photographing meteors? I've got a great spot picked out, and the forecast is for severe clear.
