have others gotten good at x-raying flybacks ? is there much to see ? I might be willing to pay for an attempt at this task.

What do you mean by 'pay'?

Certainly in Europe, as soon as you charge for an X-ray photograph you are no longer an amateur, and require a license.

I understand Plazmatron had to get rid of his X-ray gear due to this, or a related issue.

I've no idea if this also applies below the 4.99kV limit in Europe. PM might know?

FWIW you need more than 45KeV to get good penetration into common modern flybacks. I've had no luck with my DIY (digital capture) unit. Perhaps with film you could extend the exposure times enough to compensate for the softness of the rays.

this kind of experience I lack, so id rather mail one to someone on the forum, and have them do it.

theres many windings, 3 diodes, and three coils with the diodes. I don't know if there are any caps though. that would be nice to know to explain things like voltage sag at a given frequency.

What are you seeking? I got some flybacks and a set of parts for building one (except copper wire)

If you want to see how the inside stuff looks, a picture of those parts should give an idea of one way of making them. (those in my +/- 30 kV thread)

I was wanting to see my specific one, so I could relate the internals to the oscillograms.

Sanitized thread for non-relevant semi-politic teasing. Stay on topic guys.
