i have been told that the field curcut in a starter motor uses small copper strip so go to the tip and try and find a blown one (im in the makeings of a tesla coil made for ONLY things i got from the tip... the tip, the whole tip, and nothing but the tip)

Yes, the field winding in a starter motor uses copper strip thats about 1/4" wide but is not very uniform where it bends to go to the next field coil. Takes a bit of work to straighten out and doesn't look too pretty but will work for small to medium sized coil.
