I think you should try to build a marx generator, it takes a lot of MOCs to get a decent capacitor bank, I would have liked a little more bang from 21 capacitors in the one I built: Link2

I need to build a MWO capacitor bank rated at 6000vdc @ 0.66uF for a friend. He left me a box of plenty of these microwave caps rated at 2000VAC - 2100VAC. Will two in series safely handle the 6kvDC? It seems so after reading your reference--impressive! I was going to use three in series x two in parallel. His requirements were that they were to have a pair of terminals for the rectified input and anther pair for the + and - output DC. I realize now that the final C may be closer to 1uF, and will have to ask him (I think it may be in some sort of Tesla circuit). I was also looking for another suitable 'single' cap, but could not find one--any suggestions?

You guys realize that these caps are meant for filtering and for rectification, not for pulse right?
That means after the first major discharge, the foil leadouts inside the capacitors to the terminals are going to vaporize, rendering the capacitors useless. I would be pretty careful, the cans could rupture during discharge and possibly injure someone in the process.

YEAH,
But this guy insists he is some kind of "gut scientist" (he always makes reference to Faraday) and refuses to deviate from anything but his own designs. My only function here, as his friend, is to do some occasional 'math' as needed! I know the dangers here, and have already suggested that in a tank circuit, this thing must be contained.

I have seen these caps fry in a Tesla tank up close!
