This box part is 11cm x 9cm x 2cm
The sides are 1.75mm thick
Print time was about 1hr

I was thinking of the flashforge, but there was a reason I didn't. I think it was because the print times were very long.

Love that delta, my sort of geometry.

There was a British machining robot a couple of decades ago called 'Gadfly', that used a double delta geometry, and as the name implied, was very quick, but I'm danged if I can find any pictures of it via google images.

The next piece of kit you want is a vapor bath - to make your prints all smooth and shiny. Acetone works well for ABS, and I've had some success with methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) for PLA. Chlorinated solvents are supposed to be better for PLA though (methylene chloride maybe?)

yeah, but wour starting to get into dangerous chemistry, with MEK and MC.

Can the same be done with a less nasty solvent and laser?
The idea being that the laser heats up the near molten surface allowing smoothing.

Some people use ABS in a heated turkey bag build chamber, and a dual extruder for PLA support material.

Not really 'dangerous'. A few simple precautions is all you need (eg well ventilated area, no flames). The solvents listed are usually available at the hardware store, as paint thinner (MEK), PVC pipe glue (tetrahydrofuran), paint stripper (dichloromethane).
Its no worse than filling up your car at the gas station.

Jonathan, maybe I missed it but what printer kit did you go with? And what are your thoughts on it know that you've had some time with it?
