ill convert from MOV -> AVI -> YouTube...

its a really cool video that ends in a crash, so i presume youll all want to see it.
But 485MB for 9 min seems excessive, so ill chop it down.

I've found a program to convert to avi, but now it's jumpy and sticky, and that's before conversion to youtube...

Why dont you spend 3h having coffee, talking to some unknown people and generally waiting for your 500 mb video to upload at the closest Starbucks??

No quotas there...

Try using Handbrake to convert the files from your camera to H264, it should make them a lot smaller.

The file extensions of video files are pretty meaningless, they are just containers that can have any of dozens of formats inside.

What sort of computer are you using, as jumpy/sticky playback may be an issue with the machine, not the files.

When it is just for small quick movies for youtube where I want a title on it, ill just run the MOV files from my 5Dmk3 through windows movie maker, save as HD WMV and upload those to youtube.

Else I export the length edited .MOV from Adobe lightroom 4 to H264 .mp4

upon further review, i believe this is the case...

ive clipped them and down converted 3 clips. now ill upload and i think youtube will let me join them into one full clip...

I think youll all find the above video hillarious... (I would watch it in 720p HD)
once I lost tail/yaw authority, my machine drifts from my parents property to our neighbors. At which point I made the decision to dump the cyclic and collective, while disarming in flight, due to human safety. Really I should have done it 5 or 7 seconds sooner. My neighbors were very impressed right up till it crashed...
