Is there a program, preferably freeware, that can allow me to blur license plates and other info I don't want on youtube vids?

I have really cool video, but don't want internet psychotics to know where I live....

Any standard non-linear video editing program will allow you to do this. Adobe Premiere Elements, Adobe Premiere, etc...

All you are doing is basically placing a rectangle mask over the license plate and then using a path you can move around from frame to frame to track the area you want to blur out.

Yes, im uploading video in the next few ours to youtube.

but now its on to Gen 4.

im looking for a safe freeware video editing program, i really worry about cnet downloads though. But i cant upload a 485MB video file to youtube just to edit it down, it kills my monthly bandwidth allotment...

IIRC, VirtualDub will allow you to do very simple movie editing, like trimming out a section of a long file.

Windows Movie Maker is a free download directly from Microsoft. Never used it so can't comment on the quality.

Last but not least, if you buy a Mac you get iMovie free. wink (the catch being that the computer costs twice what a PC does)

it looks like it handles AVI only. Most of my key chain HD cam files are .mov'.

Can you not convert it to *.avi, then process it, then convert it back again?

There are literally hundreds of free conversion programs out there.

If its a H264 video, AAC audio .mov file, you can get plugins so virtualdub will work with it. You will also need a codec to compress it once youre done, x264 is free for that.
