I beg to differ. I have a 3000 VA mot from the early 90s. It easily trips a 30 amp 220 volts breaker. If I find a brother for it. I will make a gigantic 10 inch rgtc . But that's another story. I don't think 2 Pts will be less powerful than a single well made MOT

Well, a moderately sized MOT can supply your 1200 VA for some 5 minutes until the windings get too hot. If you were to heat the PTs up in 5 mins, it would again take much more power than that.
