I'm getting ready to make a high altitude flight, 80 to 100 feet, for a demonstration to the Cal - fire training center. Due to t he risk of a fatal decent, I really want a camera on board, I'm currently trying to get my HD #808 key chain cam to work.
EDIT: I have made a test flight to verify the camera and other features are working. I'm editing and compressing it now. I'll upload it tonight...
EDIT: Presto ! video of crappy quality im tying to figure out how to upload higher quality vids. YouTube just blurs the hell out of my cool vids... Ive got the time stamp right now, this vid was made on 11/05/2013.

I may have a environmental science and survey group who wants to reduce cost by using my drone, to monitor cliff sides and river scouring erosion .
But the FAA has made it illegal to use drones for commercial purposes. Not sure if profiting or payment for a university research flight means thats illegal too?

I think it's illegal to operate drones for non recreational purposes, so you could build them and charge them for the drone; but they would need a license to fly it for that purpose.
edit: looks like the FAA don't have a leg to stand on, there's no law on it, it's basically a remote controlled aircraft, and there's no law against flying those for profit:
If the university were the ones flying, then it would be them versus the FAA, and I would expect that their legal department would be up for the FAA's bullshit.

Still need some PID tuning, got into a "fender bender", with a bit of damage due to a roll oscillation. My "P" was too high... minor damage, ill fix it and be in the air again on Tuesday for a power and time of flight test. Im after some real watt numbers for power needed to hover.
