DC link technology is fairly well established.
e.g.http://www.abb.co.uk/cawp/ seitp202/ ab939b0ca74da9c5c1257bc8002a14b4.aspx
Your generator should be designed to directly (?) supply any planned HVDC links,
concentrate on the generator and use existing technology for the rest?

Hi Sulaiman

I've spec out the other equipment , got the details for 250kw grid tie inverter Link2 , the network operate will connect up a 1MVA transformer for the inverters to be connected to and a ring main for those transformer to be connected to.
After the genny weather fuel cell or static, that goes to a switch then a transformer to smoothing caps with resistor to limit the current to the inverter.

If its fuel cell, I'm looking at 2100volt/7000amp(was thinking about using alot of MOTS to drop the voltage to 700volt), if its static 15kv,and amps to be worked out. I'm trying to think big so build the generation part up to the 10MW max for our 11kv lines and then add the inverters/transformer/ring main as the electricity is sold.

This is all dependent on the amount of wood and its efficiency

Hi __=|(:3)-|--{__

The idea was to make methanol from the incomplete burning of wood Link2 , and use something like this Link2 , and series and parallel them. At 10watt per block need about 100k of them, but 25k of them to start off with. The retail supply is willing to pay 10c/kwh, use that to buy more cells.
The only major running cost is the wood.

I see... that would cirtainly be good in the UK (its 23p or so per unit (0.36 USD)

Have you got a quote for these things? i can imagine 25,000 of these units would cost.... a rather large amount and take up a huge amount of space.

EDIT:
Had a look around the website and found this:
Link2

It seems the Methanol type is better at lower powers according to them, im no expert however

Hi __=|(:3)-|--{__

About $85 per 10watt, the transformer and wiring comes to about $102k, the inverter $78k. I can't pay for this myself, trying to get investors on board, but they would like a prototype built.

Ahh, i see

Surely one of the larger systems would be better?
I personaly wouldnt back this, mabye if you got the Methanol from plants or made sure trees were replanted, since looking at the diagram it gives out a large amount of CO2 Gas

The question was getting the conductors out of the vessel
and I suggest a sphere constructed by winding the shell out of a
two strips of metal with half the width insulator. When you are finished the case
will be a dual conductor inner and outer. The sphere is the strongest form
you can use. A machine can make this. The metal glass bond is common in
high vacuum, high power, thermionic valves to conduct current through the wall
into the vacuum.

In your case, the 'vacuum' will be the world outside.
