Unfortunately he fell victim to a statistical freak occurence before he could wrap up his career and it's quite sad.

I'd say statistics finally caught up to him.

It's a greeat loss both to entertainment and to conservation; though I'm sure threre will be plenty more to carry the flagbecause they were inspired by his enthusiasm.
Incidentally
"Curiously enough, i found this on GOOGLE and it appears getting barbed through the heart via Stingray is not all that uncommon . . . "Some 1,500 stingray-related injuries are recorded in the United States every year, mostly minor wounds around the feet and ankles. But some stingray injuries are deadly serious. A couple of years ago, a 35-year-old Australian bloke on holidays in Fiji was stung in the chest as he swam over a large stingray; the barb punctured his heart and he died a day later as a result of his injuries."
"
By that argument, virgin birth is "not all that uncommon" ie it is documented as having happened once.

Injuries by stingrays aren't supposed to be that rare, it's copping a lethal blow to the chest that is. Newspapers have reported that Steve's only the third recorded stringray death in Australian history.

I can just be glad we don't have such large and deadly stingrays over here in adriatic seas.

I wasn't some big fan of that guy, although I was almost sure he is going to die as old man.. sad

Now Peter Brock has died in a car accident.

As a friend of mine has just said, it's a dangerous time to be an Australian celebrity.

In my dos and don't of Tesla coiling I previously stated that you should not hold your baby up to a Tesla coil. He copped a lot a bad publicity in Oz for that. He was really much better known in the USA than here.
I don't recall seeing his shows here but then I don't get to watch much TV.

As I said before, getting stabbed in the chest by a stingray isn't all that uncommon . . .
