Hey guys,

I was playing with my latest SSTC project when my room mate suggested we try to get some video of it with his GoPro. The results are pretty neat!

Bravo! GoPros are sweet. That is really cool indeed. How did you shield the GoPro? or did you?

Excellent camera angles. The sparks coming to the camera makes it much more exciting. Seeing this makes me want to get my gun working!

Beautiful shots. Interesting how the branched off arcs vanish as soon as you strike ground.
The arcs also tend to become more wiggly near the breakout point as opposed to the tip.

Sorry, but these gifs are actually the highest resolution available from the camera, the cameras resolution is greatly reduced at 240fps. We tried 120fps and higher res, but they didnt seem as interesting to look at with less frames of spark growth.

The shielding was just some aluminum foil and those few 30awg wires you can see in some of the gifs.

Wow, that is incredibly awesome. I tried convincing Destin from SmarterEveryDay who does a lot of high speed science related videos to investigate TCing but once he found out that I was not offering to have him come and film my equipment, only suggesting content to be featured, he lost interest. Sadly, my equipment is not nearly grand enough for video, nor do I have the space to host company.

2000fps in 1080p of a big fat arc would be epic
