I don't have photos but I did work in a plant that had a lot of rubber insulated cables that were constantly chewed by rats and mice. There are some rubbers and plastics that they just cant leave alone.
rats have to chew on stuff anyway, rats teeth DO keep growing , Ive seen an old one that could not close its mouth, the lower teeth were pressing against the top jaw and the tongue had hairs growing in it, .
dont know the life span but it did ok to live that long I cant remeber what happened to it, maybe the my mother bashed its brains out. we were on a farm. she sconed a possum with a sledgy once, size of a cat
