Anyone certified? I'm a big rocket guy, though have no certification(not 18 yet) and wanted to know if anyone shared the hobby.

I've always been interested but never bothered getting certified. I'm a bit of an asshole, so I have a problem with self-governing bodies... just who the hell do they think they are telling me what kind of toys I can play with?

Yeah, the local air force denotes if you fire anything over 500’ they technically consider you fair game. Generally you have to go into a remote desert region and schedule your launch window.

Mostly launched 1 to 3 stage solid fuel systems when I was a kid. Designed anti-clogging exhaust channels and stable fuel piles. Also tried various engine designs – some were admittedly a little unpredictable. The kerosene and O2 system was neat – but ended up too heavy to fly by the time it was done.

Fun hobby,
Cheers,

I have several books / manuals, written by RCA in conjuction with the US Air Force, which show how to precisly design and build a guided missile. Everything from aerodynamics and physical missile design, to guidance systems, arming and detonating mechanisms, feedback controls / systems, gyros, and much much more. Also, complete schematics are included on every aspect of a guided missile. The only thing is that they were written in the 1960's so all the circuits are tubed based!!!

Mostly just triodes, but all the tubes in these circuits are pretty much interchangeable with a MOSFET which is basically identical to the triode.

I really hate when that happens...I once had two large unmarked, completely black vans pull into my driveway where me and my roomate were living in a condo. It was when i was selling these lasers overseas to people via ebay. They stayed there for hours, and boy was my roomate mad at me. No one ever got out!

Later, my parents called and said something about the FBI wanting to know what i was up to. (I then learned some asshole had shined a green laser at the capital building here (Governor Jeb Bush!))
Turns out my TYPE laser was used...(1watt 808nm laser diodes with the KTP/vanadate added for green)

So it DOES appear fishy activity WILL bring unmarked vehicles!Watch out!
Matt

Hahaha matt your story is great. Why would they let it be so obvious that you were under surveilance?
terrorist 1: "Hey, two black unmarked vans have stopped outside the building!"
terrorist 2: "I bet it's the pizza. Go back to making missiles."
