Uv also does them in quickly, learned this the hard way with a video watch. Also short wave lasers can do damage.
The moisture sensitivity issue is mostly due to the calcium back electrode and making the panel out of discrete sections helps with this.

Before Christmas I was watching an led tv (about 32") in a shop in Birmingham,
Quite different to an lcd or crt picture ... so sharp it cut my eyes !
The one I was watching looked like a picture frame with only a few millimeters of metal surrounding the picture and about 1" thick ..... nice.

Although I was tempted, the cost didn't justify the benefits to me.
I hope lots of people richer than me buy them so that the price plummets and I can afford/justify one :<)

That sounds like a backlit LED TV, Sulaiman. The OLED TV's are ~6mm thick, and the blacks are much more intense

No, I've got an led backlit lcd 3D HD TV and it's completely different,
the led TVs are much 'crisper' than lcd.
The colour tones are also different, not sure if I like it or not,
and yes , the blacks were black.

OK. My mistake.

I also saw some Samsung LED TV's in Tesco's that were much brighter than the LCD TV's beside them, but assumed they were 'backlit LED' screens. As far as I'm aware, the OLED TV's won't be in the shops until at least Feburary.

well if the cost keeps dropping thats a plus, but i worry about reliability with new tech, so ill let others eat the risk on that too.

Some of the newest LED TVs are using addressable LED panels which shut down "black" areas, increasing the contrast further than even a plasma panel.

Anyone have a projected price for these? I saw a 15" OLED screen on a tour at Rockwell Collins and it was going for about $5,000...
