Yes I am using CDE caps, I have some old fans stripped from PC power supplys around the cap bank, I don't think I need any 'heavy duty' fans since I will be operating the coil outside where the temperature here is pretty cold already.

Yes, when re-doing my calculation with some different estimated peak currents, I get roughly 56-69A RMS which definitely looks to be more correct. I will also use a clamp meter that I have for more accurate readings, which displays both average and true RMS for several waveforms, very handy!

I don't think a clamp meter will work for drsstc's. AFAIK they use iron cores and have rather low frequency ratings.
If you wanted to accurately measure your rms current, you should use a current transformer and a dso. Then send your captured waveform to PC and calculate it's energy using matlab or something.

Okay thanks for the tip Marko! I have a few CT's made by Triad Magnetics. Turn ratio 1:100 Frequency range is 20-200 kHz Current rating is 110A Inductance is 14mH DCR is 580 mOhm
