If I can I will get a one piece 12x1" or a 6"x 3/4 + the aluminium plate.
If not I will use UV glass epoxy and try to make a 6"x3/4 laminate.

I can't believe how complicated it is to get a silly piece of glass.

And, the UV epoxy? it's something like 30$ for 1cm tube locally. It must be made out of unicorn poo or something.

The only reasonable thing was the aluminium plate, 300x30mm 47$ shipped.

An online search for telescope mirror blanks (before I read your PM about them being an option) immediately turned up a vendor who sells 6" x 3/4" for $25, 8"x3/4" for $35. We know that's plenty thick for vacuum. Don't know the cost to ship to Europe. Link2

This guy laminates glass disks by fusing them in a kiln. But you'd need to follow up by grinding and polishing at least one surface. Link2

If your plasma process might etch the glass, or deposit stuff that's hard to clean off, you might consider adding an expendable, non-load-bearing disk of inexpensive glass on the inside.

LOL - we use a lot of UV cured glue at work. And yes, its expensive in small quantities.

Just use boat builders' laminating epoxy.

telescopemirrorblanks.com was one of the sellers I tried to contact.

He went into unobtanium mode as soon as I told him the shipping address.

Check this out:

And the good news is it didn't implode.
and yes, it's scratched like hell on one side dead

Bad news, now I have to drill at least one feed trough, I wander if it will still resist under vacuum.

Drill through the blanking plate on the underside, rather than through the viewport.

too late, and I need it to be electrically isolated, so I will leave the bottom plate alone.
not to mention the glass was just as expensive, so if I mess the bottom plate it's the same cost.

I drilled it, and it still didn't implode.

I do have two 6mm acril plates as blast shield on top of it.

Looking good! Where did you end up getting the plate?

Problem is, for telescope mirrors they don't really care if there are scratches, I should have made it clear from the beginning that I don't need it for a telescope. sad

oh well, I can see inside, and the glass is good enough to seal against the o-ring.

I also found this guy:

But he took ages to replay and by that time I had already ordered the plate.
