I own a trap and a skeet shotgun. My trap shotgun has a much longer barrel than my skeet shotgun. Both are 12 gauge. Reason is, skeet is close range play, and you need to be able to move/aim/fire quickly especially when your at the far stations next to the tower, you have to move fast. Trap is far out, and the longer barrel does help to keep the shot more focused with more speed, seeing its long range, you move a lot less.

Sure I can use my skeet shotgun for trap, but always nice to have what's best for each game especially when your having fun rivals with other members :)

Simple solution, make anti-drone drones.
Arm them with high power string cannons designed to wrap around enemy drone propellers and immobilise them.

Another cool idea is putting a sonic generator on a drone, designed to interfere with the accelerometers via resonance.
This can cause even the best designed software to throw a hissy fit in the form of a buffer overflow, allowing non contact drone downing.

A drone (the type an amateur can afford and operate) is a very poor vehicle for weapons delivery unless your the military and have access to advanced weapons, targeting systems, etc...
We have access to GPS ... for as long as it lasts ...

yes Dr. Spark, the Federal rounds you quote seem to be the solution for a short barrel-long shooting weapon....

On an related note, Im really wanting to integrate a HMR .17 Auto rifle on a drone, just for shits and giggles.

How much do trained seagulls, crows, or pidgins cost?

Some real birds will go after smaller low altitude flyers....

Of course the taxidermy-cat flying quad may prevent such problems.

the flying cat vid is funny and scary, but ive researched and confirmed that drones can provoke predatory birds and large birds into agressive demonstrating, even combat.

A avian doctor and i have talked about a airport bird-strike-defense drone and the down sides.

I have a single shot 12ga, with a long barrel (I think around 30 inches give or take a couple). I actually do my Skeet pairs with this thing, just keep a round in one hand for reloading in mid-flight.

A combat shotgun, if used and equipped properly, would probably be much better for the secret service. Skeet and Trap shotguns tend to not hold near as many rounds (in fact, they tend to be limited intentionally per sporting and hunting rules). Just having the ability to shoot again faster is going to be more advantageous, especially if it takes more than one or two rounds to disable it.
Also the options and ease of use for a tactical unit are much higher, including sights, ease of adjustment for the shooter on the fly (rather than the take it or leave it sizing for a skeet/trap gun).

Hey Patrick... Have you seen the H2X-40 Turret System from More Industries? It only tracks at 15 degrees per second, but maybe it could be modified to go faster.

I'm surprised Dr. Spark doesn't have one mounted to the roof of his RV. smile
