Still, intentionally zapping oneself for days on end isn't exactly very smart considering the ozone issues alone. Not least all that UV is going to give him arc eye rather quickly.
During the the testing phase we had 7000 cfm of exhaust ventilation for the 150,000 ft3 room we where in. In addition we also had 4000 cfm of local fresh air supply to David. There is a tube pulling air from around his mouth for continuous monitoring of O3 and NO2. We kept the limits of exposure to OSHA guild lines. O3 has a limit of .1 PPM for an 8 hour work shift. So if the room was at .8 ppm we would run for 1 hour during a 24 hour period. NO2 has a limit of 5 ppm for an 8 hour work shift with the addition of the 4000 cfm of local fresh air we where able to keep NO2 levels below 5 ppm.
At the pier the main idea is relying on the breeze from the Hudson river to keep O3 and NO2 at safe leveles. But in the case that the tent sides have to be pulled up for rain there is 45,000 CFM of ventilation available for the tent. During the stunt NO2 and O3 measurements will be monitored in real time from several different points including David and area the public will be occupying.
As for the UV exposure I believe but am not 100% on this but 72 hours of exposure should be the equivalent to 30 mins of sun exposure on a sunny day. That being said during the early am hours he will be using a uv face shield.
BTW the coils where built by ArcAttack! members Steve Ward, Joe DiPrima, Sam Mcfadden and Resonance studios Craig Newswanger.

Ozone, UV light, noise etc....
Did everyone forget about ohms law???
I wonder how hot that chainmail suit will get from 3 days of continuous (pulsing) current flowing through it. Hope someone did that calculation . . . lol
With really low duty cycles and with lots of surface area the suit probably won't get too warm, but i'm sure its not negligible over that time frame.

Looks like Sam already got to this.
After 48 hours, only failure has been a hose connection on one of our radiators (water cooling system). We lost a bunch of water and the supplies tripped off (flow switch fault), but were up and running within a minute or 2.
These coils are only run at about half their designed power level. They shouldnt break. I did lots of math and stuff to avoid thermal problems. We are limited to ~15kW continuous by the weakest component, the MMC. The power supplies are set to limit at 8kW, so no problem there!
BTW, if the coils look weak (turned down) its either because 1) ozone/NO2 is too high, 2) we are being too loud or 3) david is trying to communicate with the safety operators via wireless mic/monitors.
I cant wait to go home... been workin in NYC for nearly a month now! Ive picked up a bit of a New Yorka' accent too.

all of this, is much more interesting imo, then the dude sitting in the middle of it.
Yup. BTW,live link says "N hours left SHOCKED by tesla coils".Ha ha,anyone noticed this? ZAPPED would be much more suitable word there. But,who the heck cares. Oh well..

In the UK we have a show called "Mock the Week", where 7 standups take the week's news as their starting point. The discussion of this stunt went something like "he's got a chain-mail suit on. That's rather like putting on full scuba gear and then getting into a bath!"
