I find this thread inspiring, I think I might try making a driver for the pile of dusty plasma globes I have :)

Also, Zrg, I purchased one of your neon spectral lamp from eBay. Just wish I had enough cash for one of your custom globes!

I'd also wish that xenon was a bit cheaper than 20USD per liter ;)
BTW, I can put up for sale cheaper Ar, Ne and Kr ones. But the Xe mixtures are the best so far, expecially Xe + chlorine organics (CCl4, C2Cl6, C6Cl6, CH2Cl2 etc) which give deep violet and turquiose colors (depending on the pressure and proportions)
.
Also tried some classical neon sign making. Very fun indeed, it's a shame that this industry is disappearing now and soon it will be really hard to find neon sign expendables.
The word in the picture is my very first attempt to bend something (the word actually is the most common word from Russian profanity :D)

I'd love to see what your Argon ones look like. I have a linear argon tube at about 300Torr and the color of the discharge is very pink compared to the deep violet I'm used to seeing from argon.

Very nice! Try adding iodine/organics to the gas.
By the way, where did you get the ball? Those large 12" and 16" balls on eBay cost a bit too much to use them for such experiments :-/

UPD. All these balls and tubes can be powered with a flyback. The aluminium foil or any similar conductive material makes them a cauldron type stand-alone plasma ball, when HV is applied to it. Tried powering my balls in such a way - watch the video (better in HD).
