A triangular wave is preferred, a sawtooth wave produces a nonlinear pwm and hence distortion.

Some 5V regs and it might live again, however im contemplating rebuilding it to self oscillating post filter feedback UcD based rather than the current clocked topology as i generally dislike having to deal with triangular wave generators.
