I once used rapeseed vegetable oil and it worked well, bake it in an oven for an hour and ~150 °C to remove any moisture.

Just curious, why do you need 4 ounces of transformer oil?
Are you located in the USA?

didnt i have a thread a while ago on all the various oils, properties, cost... and what not?

EDIT: ... Threads:

Link2 About High Voltage Insulating oils ....

Link2 Insulating Oil : What oil should I use?

Link2 About Bio-Oils for HFHV Transformers.

Link2 Grooved Bobbins For Segmented Windings

I thought there might be one more better thread were i categorized all the oils, but our search function sucks.
