 		google UAA145 datasheet and you'll have basic circuits for controlling phase angle of 2 SCRs in a bridge configuration (electronic variac)

adapt the thing for a variable set point instead of the tachometer it uses, and a doubler instead of the bridge, and test it with a small load to have an idea of what it does to the line

this circuit should cost less than 5€ minus the price of the UAA145, and there are other phase angle switching circuits...
