There is always one Fet conducting (i think), so it does always have a connection to the board right ?
If ever one of your half-bridges has both MOSFETs off, then one end of the GDT primary floats, which leads to odd behavior like this (are you using a gate-drive H-bridge?)

Yes an H - bridge of IRF540 and IRF9540 drive the GDT.
The setup is the same as steven ward's unversal driver 1.3b. Only different MOSFET were used.
EDIT::
The problem is now kind of solved, i just hightend the board in the case, the spike still occurs though, on very low interrupter duty cycles.
So i went ahead and bought my primary, the dealer didn't have any copper tubing so i bought a heavy duty coax cable (the kind they put in the ground, 1.2 cm diameter) It has a solid copper mantle and a 2mm² solid core. I hope this wil suffice. I wanted to add some images but i don't know how to do that in an edit.
