induction heater stuff

What topology is it? My LCLR IH uses a AVR that varies a 50% dutycycle pwm signal so that the tank is allways over the resonant frequency. It uses a current IC for current feedback, one of allegro's sensors. They are shielded - so they're unnaffected by the actual IH's magnetic field.

Basically the AVR works as a PLL. If current is too high; increase frequency (mosfets are allways in the inductive region) - else lower it. This gives robustness when materials melt in the heater and change the properties of the coil :)

To be honest, while considering the options, i thought that using an off the shelf PLL (the 4046) would be much easier than using an AVR, Arduino or any other micro controller. After spending tons of hours fighting with it, now i know its the opposite.

And that is why I went with the AVR topology after using the PLL...
It worked perfectly.
