Marko built a VTTC halfbridge, but it was something of an epic project. Not recommended for beginners! rolleyes

The 30V transformer should do, if you unwind some turns to get the two secondaries down to 20V and then parallel them up.

Phil, thats exactly what im working off,

sorry i didint phrase the question properly,
i was wondering if you could build a Vacuum tube H-Bridge hehe

the coil will be wound on a 50W resistor's ceramic tube

( Link2 )

it should do just fine :D

question is, should i try wind it with litz wire as well as the normal circuity?

Woaw, according to what Steve said, it sounds like an ambitious project ^^

Do you have any schematic ? (just curious)

PS: It's a good idea to salvage the ceramic tube of a power resistor, hope you can easilly get rid of the coating.

I'm doing mine in Litz - primary and secondary. Can't see the point in wasting power in AC resistive losses, which simply heat the coils. And I happen to have 1kg of 40AWG wire, and access to a machine shop, so I'm going to make my own litz. Probably stop at 27 strands - will have to see how the lengths work out.
Also been looking for a low loss secondary former - got a quote for 100mm acrylic tube at the jaw dropping price of $350 per metre! Still looking ...

i didnt want to find it was too thin to work with hehe.

ok, lol, I missunderstood you again...thought you were going to build the H-Brdge VTTC...

I just saw your post in projects section, good, I will have two coils to inspire me ^^

Hmmm litz wire.
The coil of my GK71 HFVTTC gets so f... hot that it starts to smoke after about 30 seconds with full power. (30cm HF flame...)
The wire is 1,7mm.
Litz wire sounds cool. But how do you solder it?

RateReducer, you need to wind HF coils with interturn spacing if you don't want them to get so hot.
Sorry for OT

Hi, Dr. Dark Current.
What do you mean exactly? Winding it like a spring?

what you do is melt all the enamel off each end then solder it! :D
