I'm doing mine in Litz - primary and secondary. Can't see the point in wasting power in AC resistive losses, which simply heat the coils. And I happen to have 1kg of 40AWG wire, and access to a machine shop, so I'm going to make my own litz. Probably stop at 27 strands - will have to see how the lengths work out. Also been looking for a low loss secondary former - got a quote for 100mm acrylic tube at the jaw dropping price of $350 per metre! Still looking ...

Hmmm litz wire. The coil of my GK71 HFVTTC gets so f... hot that it starts to smoke after about 30 seconds with full power. (30cm HF flame...) The wire is 1,7mm. Litz wire sounds cool. But how do you solder it?
