The aforementioned have contributed financially to the continuing triumph of 4hv.org. They are deserving of my most heartfelt thanks.
I got my first electronics experimenters kit when I was 5 but it wasn't until I was 9 that I understood how apliing power to one coil could make power come out of another coil that has no connection to the first it got even more confusing when even a 12v battery on the primary didn't make anything come out of the secondary,
Childhood stories? Hm. IDK why my dad didn't tell me anything about electronics. He used to work with oscilloscopes and lot of other stuff. But one thing I can say is that, when I was either 8 or 10, my dad bought me an oscilloscope. As I said in my previous post, I derped at anything electricity. My dad said "One day you will want to have one." How right he was. 5 or 3 years later, I went up to him and asked "Dad, where is that thingie with the blue line across it? That one you got a couple of years ago with that tiny screen and buttons and knobs?" and he said "That's an oscilloscope. It's in the closet in the hallway." I went and got it, but never really used it until a year later. It's kinda broken now, but I have somewhat of an idea how to use it. Another shorter story was sometime in 6th grade, due to a VDG effect or something (I didn't know at the time) I accidentally charged myself up to about 50kV and got a pretty nasty shock. I think my curiosity into that got me into lightning, which got me into HV (possibly ruining Weston's life). Of course, I didn't start seriously doing HV until a year and a half ago, so I'm still a n00b. I liked technology since I was 9 though. :D and I'm 15 tomorrow. So, yeah. I got started much later than you.

my main asperation is to be able to wind transformers as crazy as this guys ones:
Oh my...
When i was a baby i put keys in a light socket (120v) I was ok i think they had rubber ends but they welded and popped.
So that's what those slots are for!
Lol in class many years ago I had a paper clip and I was holding it a couple inches from a socket just joking around, then one of my friends hit my hand with a book and the lights went out...

when I was 4, my first electric adventure was to dismantle my little walking robot and mate it with a 4,5V varta lamp, making little lamps light and blink randomly
when I was 5, I was offered some motors, cables and things to play with, and I passed my evenings playing with cables of all sort
then one day, I took one of those three legged lamps from car lights, and hooked it to 240VAC... there was an enormous blast and I have been really lucky not to have been hurt with shattered glass (poorly twisted power cable was vaporized first because of the resistive connection)
later when I was 6, my parents were building rooms upstairs and I drew the schematic of the whole electrical circuit... the only wrong thing was the double interrupter inverted circuit you do for dual switches (dont know the word in english), and I asked to be explained
at 8, I had my first soldering iron and I dismantled everything I found, and bought blinking leds and the like at the local electronic shop
at 10, I asked a friend of my father to explain myself how logic worked and what were and, or and other magical names
after that, I have been experimenting with 741s and 555s and building electronic kits, and have recuperated anything I could since then
I have SHITLOADS of components and devices in a 60 meters square barn, I have been into lasers, eletronics, chemistry, pyrotechnics and mechanics since the time I'm able to buy my own material, or approximately the age of 14
currently I don't pratice very much as my current job has things in common with esclavagism (service society in industrial informatics, automation, electricity and power distribution) so I have no time for this (but have expectedly been able to make some contacts in the field ;) to grab interesting material)
I have finally managed to get another job with double my salary and fixed schedules, so I will finally be able to renovate my barn and build the lab everyone would want with all that extra life level... (except I also need to renovate my house lol and provide everything needed for my little family)

lol, I still remember that time many years ago when I tried to make a speaker out of paper, tape, paper clips, and a refrigerator magnet. Not like I've actually built much since then, but I've still come a long way :V
Had a couple of small experimenter sets some years ago, and I've built maybe 4 kits over the years.
Been shocked a few times by high voltage, once by mains electricity but usually by camera flash caps or other high-voltage capacitors.

Been involved in electronics /electricity since I was 6. Back then red LEDs were still exciting (only invented 6 years before I was born). First HV involved rigging up a magneto coil (thanks Grandpa!) as a tickler (age around 12) - used it to ignite petrol vapor in a tin and fire corks over the house.

oh god, those things, i recived a nasty shock around 11 when i was disassembling cameras on the floor cross-legged, i literaly spasmed up about 6 inches hehe
came up with a evil idea of bending the legs back around the case, putting a strip of aluminium on each side of them, charging them up and throwing them to people to catch wearing gloves...
