All audio/electronic equipment degrades over time.

I think the point here is whether or not a lead with gold plated terminals, and everything in between, including the connections to the gold plated ends, submerged in oil that retains a lower resistance for longer is worth the money these people are asking.

I tend to drive second hand cars, currently a 20 year old Jag. The mechanical parts are fine. The 3.2 litre (approx 200 cubic inch) engine is barely run in.

The main problems with it are corroded terminals/wiring. If all the wiring on it had gold plated terminals and was submersed in oil from one gold plated terminal to the next it would be virtually maintenance free.

These people do have a point (although I won't be replacing any dodgy wiring with oil protected, gold plated leads).

I tried them I find that the increased capacitance of the oil on the wires makes the sound colored in a blue-brown sort of shade in the high end, maybe even a tad fluttery depending on the amp.

I figured it was pretty much non-sense, although I might just buy the cheap ones cause they do look nice...Hmmm

Well there are the idiots in the world that would buy anything. I saw this one image once. It was a screenshot of eBay. A person was trying to sell some sort of Nikes for 1149 dollars or something. There were 4 bids. In the description of it, it said "I'm selling the picture, not the shoes, bid wisely."

So there are some idiots out there who are stupid enough to buy something like this, without realizing that the "extra features" are useless. And that's why I'm fine with those kind of things up on eBay. You can always see how many idiots there are if they bid on something like that.

Most of my house is rat resistant. With its dodgy 1950's wiring you have to be careful not to touch too many appliances at once >_<

Those beats headphone fall into the same category for me, a reasonably priced pair of earbuds/headphones sound exactly the same as those 500$ monstrosities. I only wish I had thought of it first so I could be the one rolling in money.

Trololol, I took apart a pair of $300 Beats. The speaker and driver were the same as a $20 pair of headphones from Walmart. I kid you not. The inch of foam surrounding the speaker provided the noise cancellation. xD
