The aforementioned have contributed financially to the continuing triumph of 4hv.org. They are deserving of my most heartfelt thanks.
1m height SGTC 0.1 uF 40 KV tank cap pri 10 turns of copper tube 12 mm sec dia: 160 mm 1200 turns of 0.6 mm wire hv source 4.5 KV 4KVA trafo with rectifying voltage doubler sparcs about 2 m
I have been coiling for about 6 months, have built 3 coils so far, my favorite being my 813 VTTC.
It is built mostly from scrounged parts. The secondary is wound on part of a clown's balloon inflator scavenged from a dumpster behind a party store out of business. The only part I remember spending any real money for was the tank cap, a Spragur 2nf doorknob - $20.00 at a hamfest. The rest is all microwave parts and milsurp.
I have a 4.5" disruptive that is currently striking 36" to a grounded rod. It uses the other half of the balloon inflator for it's 4.5" secondary, a 12/60 NST, a 6 gap round spark gap, and a .01 mfd commercial cap. 36" so far, upgrading to a MMC soon, should increase the spark length.
Also a 3" (my first) OBIT powered coil. It uses an OBIT, 2 of the commercial caps in series, a 3" X 12" secondary, a 5 gap horizontal tube gap with an air blower to keep it from melting down.
The coil is build on a plastic base with Lexan sides and top Small unshunted MOT with a 12V winding for the fan PS The Secondary is 500 turns ot Microwave fan wire on a spice shaker. Plate cap is a .000009 Mica Grid resistor is 3K at 50 watts Heater supply is external, been using a 6V battery until I find or build a supply.
Overall dimensions are 13" from bottom to top of ball, and 6X6"
Got 1" of brushed discharge without any tuning of the primary. More work to come. including trim and a lighted on off switch to go with the fan.
Plan an a new secondary as soon as I get some finer wire, the spice shaker screws into it's top so that I can wind several secondaries and easily change them out. And the spices are a buck a pop and there's a few in the cuboard suspect for replacement!
Have some finishing work, noticed my gridleak resistor is lopsided, the top dosn't sit on straight because of tension in some wires, etc. She does work though!

Here's my new SGTC. It runs from a 7.5kV 25mA NST, has a 0.0106uF 13.5kV MMC and a tungsten carbide static gap. Current streamer length with small topload is 40cm (16")

THE SLESSLA COIL!
This is my first Tesla Coil, but definitely not my last. Building it was a challenge but fun, and totally worth it. It's an SGTC, secondary 930 turns 24 awg on 4 inch thin wall PVC. Primary coil is 13 turns 30 degree inverse conical, tuned at 12 turns. Power is a 15kv/30ma NST. Tank capacitor is a 22.4 kV, 7.5 nF MMC. The part I'm least proud of is the topload, it's Al foil on dryer duct, 4" minor diameter, 16" overall. I'm gonna need to build a smoother one soon. Also, the spark gap is just two galv iron screws in a 1.5" PVC endcap, with no quenching. It's really starting to eat through the screws.
It can get about 18" arcs to a grounded object, and when it's running it's very loud and very scary, just like it should be.
Here's a pic of the entire setup: Some arcing to a grounded screwdriver: Here are the total specs via JAVATC: ]1179365482_690_FT14_slessla_coil-

Table top SGTC
This was my first Tesla coil, completed in March this year. It was meant as a concept coil, so I could get the feel of things before scaling up. (plus being on a HV forum for a few years an never building a TC is sort of weird. ) Due to it's compact design it could be used as a desk ornament, if it didn't look like crap. The HV transformer is a rewound ATX core, run by a simple 555 driver, at 12V, flyback mode. Primary capacitor is ca. 440pF, so this thing really screeches. The spark gap is enclosed and muffled. The secondary is 1.5 cm in diameter, and consists of about 500 turns IIRC.
