Dual MOT SGTC
Two MOT with seried secondaries, primarries in parallel, current limited with two ballast coils.
4.32 inches diam secondary, 966 turns
little toroid
7 turns primary, taped at 6 turns
25 nF @12.8 kV primary cap, MMC style
22 inches discharges.

Now updated to 35 nF primary cap, 5 turns primary, dual static spark gap, 25 inches streamers

Using a single DC flyback and a big SGTC system at low bang rate, up to 90 cm ground discharges can be achieved.

Well, after 23,000 hits this is the last post before everyone heads off to the new brighter 4HV around Feb 10th 2006.

The 3 Rules to keep it consistent and readable:
Each coil to have only 1 page of info (ie fits on your computer screen). Brief is best.
Each coil to have only 2 photos (do not double post for the second photo).
Only coil details and photos to be posted. Direct any queries direct to the person or in a new thread.

A coil is defined by its secondary (change of toroid isn't a new coil)
Enter as many coils as you wish. Beginners coils are welcome and this log is designed to be helpful for beginners.

My second DRSSTC,
8 inchx3.5inch secondary wound with 36AWG,
Full bridge of HGT1N40N60A4D igbt's,
75nf res capacitor,
4x 470uf storage caps with 2x10uf on the igbt's.
Steve Wards driver circuit with OCD, primary feedback,
Primary is tapped at 4.5 turns.
total height is 17.5 inches.
