I'v had some expiriants with what you are trying to do I will see if I can get it working for you and yes I am already on the server

I actually got it working today. made a lot of progress with smcerm and brandon3055.

spent a lot of time color coding all of the red stone. Feel free to take a look if you want. Just be careful of setting off traps etc, each one has to be reset.

fore future posts you should know that i am brandon3055

i had some ideas fore the last part of the maze the end game as you called it the first idea i had was to build an actual maze with lots of traps and mobs to kill you similare to one i built in my ssp world (see screenshot bellow) and with the amount ov headroom you have it could even bee multy level.

the second idea i had was a big room the player enters then the doores close behind them and thay have to servive an endless wave of mobs untill the exit opens after a set amount of time.

and the third idea i had is simalar to the second exept instead of just having a logn delay before the dore opens there could be buttons all around the room with a light next to each one and and the player needs to press the button with the light terned on to tern it off at wich point another one terns on and thay then need to tern that one off and so on untill the dore opens.

and another idea i just had wile writing this post would be to combine the first and third ideas.

so do any of thees ideas sound good to you?

BTW can you pm me to let me know when you will be back online

I thought you were brandon3055, but wasn't positive. Even if I was certain, I tend to refer to users in MC by their MC handle even on forums etc, in case others aren't sure who is who.

and I think a combination of numbers 1 and 3 is a great idea! I have so much wasted space right now, and the maze areas on the top levels turned out more linear than I originally wanted, this should make up for that.

The only note is that I want to keep maintenance relatively easy for tweaking/administration etc etc, so leave some room for access tunnels etc etc. But still manageable with all of my space. And because of the massive stone generator on the back side, I can collapse and extend the volume outwards to get even more space. Might be ever better since that would then put the entry to the endgame area in the center, rather than at an end.

I saw the button idea on the server put to practice, and I think it's fantastic. Though if combined with a maze rather than a large room, I say illuminate the button that has to be pushed next. As it just becomes troublesome to remember the order, and mess up, when in a maze. In a room of mobs that would be fine, but in a maze it's just a little too cruel for me. Though maybe we could have some individual "buttons" replaced with a riddle or combination to trigger that particular "station"

Also, the last "door" will have to be at least several layers thick to prevent cheating, as at that point the player will have obtained some good picks etc. And I'm not using and protection add-ins so this maze can be used on any copy of minecraft.

I updated the server to Bukkit 1.3.2-R3

let me know if you encounter any problems. judging by the log there might be some issues with chests and signs, but so far I have not encountered a problem.

The large Maze I have been working on is nearing completion, and I would like to thank smcerm and Destroyer of Mosfets for their help.

I'm thinking start a "next phase" for the maze. A large structure that re-arranges itself to fool the player, but I'm open to suggestions smile

I also wanted to try re-designing my elevator to accommodate more than a 1 block footprint (e.g. the elevator "floor" be 2x2 or bigger)

I'd love to see some shots!

And I'm up for suggestions for the next project. I'm currently just spending some time wrapping up loose ends on this one to get it ready for basic distribution, such as fixing dispenser positions from world edit pastes, loading them, priming TNT lines and resetting breakpoints, and sealing up temporary access holes.
(already made a copy into a new world.
World is called 'maze-01' and I'm adding it to the 4hv group permissions. This will be the official copy that will be dumped for distribution when ready).

here are a bunch of screenshots from my maze most of them are self explanitory but if you have any questions just ask

as you can see i used alot of Wedit fore this

the first one is the start the player needs to get through without getting killed by flaming arrowes

and the second one is a point where the player is given a set of suplies by sum dispensors in the roof

the antire thign is built between y=1 and y=16 so the player cant see more then 5 meters

So I uploaded a ZIP of the murderpit/maze/whatever we end up calling it, but I've been having trouble setting the spawn point. I tried the bed, too much variation. Tried MC Edit, didn't seem to work or too much variation. I even went to the trouble of making the spawn area unnecessarily large to try to compensate and to no avail, sometimes people still spawn outside of it.

Can someone help fix this?
