Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the suggestions. It sounds like the jury's still out on whether the 572B's will allow greater arc length than the 811As, but I have finished some more equations and decided to order them anyway since: A) Their current rating is supposedly 57% higher (275mA vs 175mA), B) Their voltage rating is supposedly 83% higher (2750V vs 1500V) and C) Their power rating is supposedly 150% higher (160W vs 65W)
Perhaps these specs aren't accurate (Dr Dark Current pointed out some good reasons why they don't stack up) so I guess the proof (or disproof) will be in the pudding. At least it should make an interesting experiment and save some future coilers a few bucks if it doesn't work out.
I'll post results, but it'll probably be a month yet.

Thanks again!
You will for sure be able to get bigger sparks compared to the 811A, even if we only look at the voltage rating, higher primary voltage really does give a kick compared to f.ex. running more 811A in parallel for greater primary current handling.
Unless you ordered matched pairs, check my website for a simple solution on how to match the tubes in a VTTC.
