My point is that what they are doing has little to do about this. Probably just few people are actually protesting, most of them are there to steal and destroy. Get some stuff, let the blood flow.

Destroying other's property it is not what I call a protest. It is a crime.

We are having this problem right now in Canada for the third time in 2 years now there are "protestors" rioting for no valid reason. For some reason the under 30ish demographic is just itching to get involved with "protests" that turn into violent property destroying rampages. There may have been people who where there with a legitimate message but the average participant is a thug who is there to see how far they can go and not get caught.

I was very disappointed that the "sound cannon" (pick your name) was not used on the Toronto G20 riot or the Occupy Toronto "protest" but yet again it is not being used in Montreal where students have been "protesting" a hike in tuition by rioting, burning cars and fighting with police.

3 large "protests" turning into 3 riots, you can't say that its unjustified to be prepared at an international event like the Olympics for a violent riot.

To reply to Nik's comments, the history of Quebec has to be examined to see
what the student groups are protesting. Anarchists are just along for the ride.

Seriously, who thought this was a good idea?

No doubt the RIAA will be all over this, as it allows them to monitor music being played in cars and administer the appropriate charges for playing copyrighted material without a performance licen$e.
Also I can see the health police using this to enforce the "no smoking in vehicles" regulations and other agencies to stop people carrying friends in their vehicles so that the taxi and public transport firms make more money.
Not least another way to control people. Curse at that driver who just cut you up? Thats road rage, and three points and a fine or worse depending on what else the SpyBox (tm) is able to scrape up from your driving history.

The list goes on and on.

If yelling and nobs on the road was a fine here I wouldn't be driving any more >_< I do however put a camera in my jeep on purpose of a similar reason. There is a big spike in car insurance fraud in an area close to where I live. Driving some times more then 10 hours a week to and from work its worth having it on, just in case.

*ahem* Link2

Not only that but sometimes I get some really goofy stuff on camera when people forget how to drive in the winter.

However I 100% agree that agencies other then your insurance company or the police (with a warrant) should never be given access to the video.
