Looks really nice! Just a tip with coating... keep in mind most polyurethanes don't dry well on the PVC itself, so try not to coat areas with no wire. A small overlap on the edge should be fine though. I found out the hard way, the top of my coil is permanently sticky! haha

Got about 8 coats of Minwax Polyacrylic on it. Was nice and warm today with a small muffin fan blowing on it, its nearly rock hard. On to the primary coil!!!

Work has been killing me the last couple weeks, really slowed down this project.

Got the MMC built. I cheaped out for now. Using spare parts I did devise a device to smack me in the face if I try to open up the spark gap for longer sparks, lol. I will order more caps to expand the MMC but I picked up a sweet little power boat and it blew the budget.

Also my $20 (+ $40 shipping...) Variac arrived in the mail, way bigger than I envisioned it. GE Voltpak 16 amp with 7 terminals. Tested it out, works great. Possible to get 220V out from 120. I have an antique voltage meter from the 30's or 40's. I want to build a frankenstein's laboroatory looking device using the meter and a big antique hand wheel from some equipment I salvaged long ago.

Maybe this weekend sparks will fly!
