EDIT: Sorry for the rant
's ok, we are pretty much all doing it.
and 35A fuses?!
reminds me of the time a friend on my robotics team warned me: "dont hook up the small 12v signal light to the huge 12v 18Ah lead acid battery, you'll fry it!" as if...
edit: heres a little demo to combat that misconception- hook up a small through hole led directly into an outlet in series with a 1W 6kohm resistor. IT BLOWS THEIR MINDS

Just make sure you use greater than 1W resistors. even at 20mA you have ~115v being dropped for a whopping total of 2.4W. And trust me, I drew an arc from mains by intentionally using a 1/8W resistor(as the conductor was vaporized, the gap widened).

Ok good I'm not the only one thinking this! But seriously the whole world depends on electronic devices. If it wasn't for smart japanese our technological improvements may cease. My moms boy friend has a college degree in electronics and he doesn't know what a MOSFET is or does... These things depress me...

It is a little alarming that people don't understand ANY basic electricity. Given how much of the modern world relies on electricity there are only a very few people who know how it works. With the majority being so ignorant on the subject I'm not surprised there are all kinds of myths that living next to wind turbines will kill you and that cell phones give you brain cancer. The stupid alarmist news only compounds the problem.

not necisarily the japanese- most of the thinking is done independintly from where the factories are. engineers are everywhere.few and far between of coarse...

They don't even have electronics or engineering classes where I live! ICT and learning to use Microsoft office is about as technical as it gets...
me neither. thats why the internet and 4hv exixts after all.

EDIT: I'm the only girl in my electronics class. Heck, I'm one of the few girls on this forum. In my class, I'm the only one that is really passionate about the subject. I'm the one where when people are missing 10 wires/parts, connected 5 things backwards, and 20 things are in the wrong holes in their circuit, they come to. "I checked it a million times, I know everything is connected right! Fix it!"
For what its worth: I married the only girl in the electronics class at school! That was over 40 years ago. We both have top jobs and can actually talk to each other about our work and science. Her comments was always how intimidated the guys were around her! My win! Hey, she even got me a nice roadster sports car, now on the track, for my 50th.... Life is good. What some peole call the revenge of the nerds.....
