I'm just interested in anyones opinion on the ook.
Book review please!
Is it Uber technical, or is it written in laymans terms?
I'm wondering if it's worth getting for my current project.

I ordered it from Amazon a month ago, and it hasn't arrived yet. I wish EVR's distribution was as superior as his firepower. :-<

That might make reception of the book a little painful.

Sorry its taking so long. It is important to note that you are ordering through Amazon.UK.com and not sure how they work the shipping, whether or not they purchase it first from my publisher, or if my publisher ships it direct. Also, it may be due to the fact the book shipped via surface mail which is 2-3 months i think. Do you remember which shipping option you chose? I think amazon did offer free shipping and if that was so, it probably did ship surface mail. (i.e. slow boat)

Anyways, regarding my publisher and US shipping, the book usually arrives within a few days.

I'm really not that strong at theory and my book certainly doesn't go deep at all into theory. Its written in a practical sense and more as a "how to" or "plans" rather than a theoretical book into the operation of DRSSTCs. My website, www.drsstcbook.com has a lot of sample pages which should provide a good insight into the style of the book. Hope this helps, please let me know if you have any other questions.

Its a good book in that it documents several different proven designs of a DRSSTC (electrical and mechanical), however its not a necessity for building your own DRSSTC. Steve Ward has an excellent website with a DRSSTC design guide and good baseline designs for a DRSSTC which will prove quite invaluable as well. His website can be found here:

Steve Conner also has good information on his website, especially theoretically about DRSSTC.

I'm fully aware of the steve's sites, and I know the book isn't a necessity for my new DRSSTC.
I was merely wondering if it was a worthwhile book for my collection, and the fact you say you don't go to heavily into theory is a huge boon to me. The fact that you say it is a more practical book really encourages me to buy it.

Question from a money conscious person...Is the color version worth the extra $30.01? or should I just go black and white.

I would strongly recommend the color version. The images in the book were designed for color printing, so in the black and white printing they don't look as good (a bit dark too) I would say the extra $30.00 is worth the higher quality and presentation of color pages.

And also, this isn't a biased statement. I actually make more royalty on the B&W books than the color books! (color printing is very expensive) :)

I've been thinking about getting that book too. I saw it on ebay once but haven't sen it again. Now I have to wait till I'm not as broke. The book isn't availible on regular amazon.com? When i try amazon.uk.com a website about cars comes up. What did I do wrong lol?

Ohh! I just realised, I must have ordered the B&W version. I just saw two identical looking entries on Amazon and clicked the cheaper one. Curse 1-Click ordering frown

I'll review it for you guys when I get it, assuming it doesn't arrive by ICBM and take out half the city, like I think Ben was suggesting. wink
