Just so you know you probably won't find a parts list + schematic from a MIDI controller freely available on the internet, because there is a third and most important part and that is software. Most people that develop software for MIDI controllers (such as myself) don't usually give it away freely because of the great lengths of time and effort we put into making it work and also don't want to play tech-support, I simply don't have time to answer emails all day.

Bottom line is that the only really way to get a working controller is to dive in and give it a try for yourself; research MIDI interface and build a DRSSTC or SSTC for starters...

thanks for all your replys :D

i didn't know so much time and effort was pt into a midi interuptor
and didn't know a SGTC coukdn't be audio regulated.

but that leaves me with 1 moerquestion.

Can't i replace my Spark Gap with another interuptor? lets say a midi interuptor?

thanks in advance!
and sorry i didn't know what a DRSSTC is XD
misinterpreted the internet :P

There were discussions at some point of several rotary spark gaps in series spinning at nearly constant speeds, changing ever so slightly between notes to change the overlap interference patterns, which would make it audio modulated. This would take a lot of design work and innovation, but it would be interesting to see someone try it.

A single typical rotary spark gap could not change speeds fast enough without an incredibly powerful motor.

interesting

would a 1500W vaccuumcleaner motor do the trick?
or else multiple gaps?
adn a shorter ar mto change the momentum.

im gona think something out.

btw my capacitor (had plate cap with glass plates, i got the plates for free but there were sparks all around them, i found out it was window glass which is always coated with small amounts of gold so this broke my plates, thats why i'm back on my laiden jar cap bank again, on this capacitor the sparks arent 66 cm but 25 cm since there is a great loss of power due to corona effect around the caps)
so im gona make a 40 plate polycarbonate capacitor with 3 mm thick plates.
after i finished my new capacitor i am gona think about this rotary sparkgap.

thanks for your reply XD

Hi Giwan,

I don't think your type of coil can be audiomodulated, i actually never seen a sparkgap coil get audiomodulated.
Your coil isn't a DRSSTC (dual resonant solid state tesla coil), but a SGTC (spark gap tesla coil).
^ Like most of the people on this topic already said.

I suggest you search the term DRSSTC on google.
There is also a dutch site were you can get more information.
That might make it more easy for you: "www.circuitsonline.net".
Search those forums if you have some problems with terminology concerning solid state coils.

Also know that a DRSSTC is an expensive project, and a good understanding of power electronics is needed if you don't want to hurt yourself.

There is also some equipment needed if you want to succesfully build a solidstate coil. A good oscilloscope for instance, wich can be expensive.

I advise you do more reading about solid state coiling before you start to build one ;)

Good luck with coiling ;)

Dear loveHV as you can see in my earlier posts i already built a TC,
only i didn't rlly know what it was called XD
about those oscilloscoped: we do have 3 very expensice and good ones at my school
so that should be a problem, i am gona try to make it audiomodulated but first i am gona make myself a new cap with clean meterial and than i am gona bend over thi problem concerning audio modulation.

A good oscilloscope isn't everything, You need to know how to hook it up to your tesla coil.

One mistake and you could end up with a dead expensive scope :p
Tesla coils aren't forgiving devices you see ;)

But im sure if you do your research well.
You'll find your way in building a solid state one, and eventually audio modulate it.

good luck ;)

would this work?
just a question XD i made this myself since i couldn't find anything about converting an SGTC to a DRSSTC.
pls correct the schematic where i'm wrong.
i'm just a beginner in electronics so can someone pls help me?
i did my research but there is so few information about TC's with understandable schematics.

thanks in advance for your help

Trust me when I say you shouldn't try a drsstc as your first solid state Tesla coil, and no, the diagram is missing the interrupters, and those diodes are unnecessary (and good luck finding igbt that can connect to an nst) . I recommend you to try to make a solid state Tesla coil (similar to Steve's Ward sstc5) before attempting a double resonant sstc. Read how they work, and use Steve ward's coils as a model.

i did my research but there is so few information about TC's with understandable schematics.

Here ya go
