Dear fellow coilers.
my name is Giwan, I am from the Netherlands and i am making a DRSSTC.
Currently I can produce 66cm (26inch) sparks.
but i want to continue and make my DRSSTC audio regulated.
The problem is I don't know how! XD

so can someone exactly tell me how to make my TC audio regulated.

schematics would be appreciated, please include wiring to the TC.

thanks in advance
greets Giwan Verveen (Netherlands)

Could you provide a schematic of your coil?

Giwan, your schematic is of a spark gap tesla. Not sure if you could audio modulate this type of coil.

DRSSTC is solid state. Not the same type coil you have pictured.

Hello Giwan

Welcome to 4hv.

Please read the site rules here: Link2

Pay special attention to:

Part II: Posting

B. Do your own research. If you intend to ask a question, please make sure it isn't already addressed in the archives, or on the wiki. Also, be sure to perform at least a cursory Google search. Remember, nobody wants to do your homework for you. Show some effort, and the community will repay you in kind.

C. Do not ask for step-by-step instructions, detailed plans, or complete schematics. If anyone wants to make them available, they will. Try Google or the HvWiki.

G. Avoid double-posting (FYI: double posting is posting twice in a row in a thread, without allowing any replies in between). Double posting just to get a topic marked as new is a no-no. Every topic deserves a chance. If yours slips into obscurity, its chance came and went. If 48 hours have elapsed, and you have some new information to add, you may double post. This is the only exception, there are no other exceptions! Posting an identical or nearly identical question in two individual threads is also considered double posting.

thanks :P

uhm i signed up for this forum because i have been looking for MIDI interuptor schematics and explainations all over the internet, but couldn't find an awful lot.

i know the first part of the midi circuit is electric regulated ans the second part is fiber optic regulated.
the frequency is created by turning the TC on and off very quickly but i don't have a clue on how to do this.

so if there is someone who has a schematic (i am not begging for schematics here XD) and is willing to share it with me i would appreciate that very very much. and if there is someone who made a musical teslacoil before i would LOVE to hear how the link between a midi-source and the tesla coil is made.

I sue hope someone is willing to help me.
but if not i will just continue searching on the internet to some sort of schematic + partslist.

kind regards
Giwan Verveen.

stats of my coil:

NST: 8500V 50mA 50Hz
primairy cap: beercrate cap bank with 24 beerbottle laiden jars. 0.015 u-Farad
static spark gap: 5 x 0.5mm interuption
primairy coil: 12mm diameter copper tube, spacing 25mm, 10 turns.
secondairy coil: 60 cm high, 125mm diameter, 0.5mm copper wire.
top load, aluminium toroid, height 10cm = 4inch, width 20cm = 8 inch

hope u like it when I adjusted the coil 100% i might be abl to post some pics XD

PS. (coiling isn't very known in the netherlands, so there aren't many people IRL to help me with this, I am a starting coiler since this is my first coil and i have to do it all on my own, it very fun to do but i think its tough to)

AFAIK no one has sucessfully audio modulated a SGTC before.

It is a Spark Gap Tesla Coil, according to your schematic. These can be audio modulated, but it is pretty hard to do so and the sound would be drowned out by the spark gap anyways :P

Hi Giwan,

I don't think your type of coil can be audiomodulated, i actually never seen a sparkgap coil get audiomodulated.
Your coil isn't a DRSSTC (dual resonant solid state tesla coil), but a SGTC (spark gap tesla coil).
^ Like most of the people on this topic already said.

I suggest you search the term DRSSTC on google.
There is also a dutch site were you can get more information.
That might make it more easy for you: "www.circuitsonline.net".
Search those forums if you have some problems with terminology concerning solid state coils.

Also know that a DRSSTC is an expensive project, and a good understanding of power electronics is needed if you don't want to hurt yourself.

There is also some equipment needed if you want to succesfully build a solidstate coil. A good oscilloscope for instance, wich can be expensive.

I advise you do more reading about solid state coiling before you start to build one ;)

Good luck with coiling ;)
