Hello everyone, I'm just wondering if Steve Ward is with eastern voltage research? Because it look like what eastern voltage research has to offer, are identical to Steve's work.

Thanks

They are two very separate entities.

EVR are selling the parts and the schematics, S.ward do not - (only the schematics are for free "of course")..
EVR is a research group, S.ward is not.
Both Entities are great with a common subject, TESLA COILING.

Thanks everyone for the info.

The reason I asked is because EVR claimed that they research and design their Tesla Coil, but what on their website just give me a feeling that they are just too similar to Steve Ward designs.

EVR is largely run by Dan McCauley, one of the pioneers of DRSSTC's.
From what I understand, Dan commercialized Steve's universal driver, which is one of the reasons why Steve's work is so very popular in the coiling community (that, and the fact that the UD is a wonderful coil driver).

EVR uses UCC gate drive topology UD uses a discrete Mosfet switch topology,, That I think is the only difference..

FYI Your not really adding any lead with the circuit you added there. The device that squares the chopped sine has to be fast and have a some what narrow window of hysteresis on it usually less than 5mV to 10mV. The 7414's hysteric window at 1V to 1.5V is way to large for phase lead, any lead added with the inductor is basically lost in the large hysteretic window and slow skew rate of the 7414.

It doesn't matter if the circuit doesn't work, as long as the parts are cheap and easily available! :)

EVR's kits are indeed "inspired" by circuits invented by Steve Ward and other members of the community. Including the dreadful 74HC14 meme.

Funny how people keep saying it doesnt work and yet still it works just fine. Been there done that and im very happy with results.

All i have is slighly beefier feedback ct (around 1:500) and adjustable inductor with some resistance as load. Feedback signal is taken normally and fed into 7414
