When using a flyback to power a TC, the output NEEDS to be rectified. If it's not, then the capacitor will act like a short.

My first SGTC was also a small flyback powered coil made from whatever I could find in my appartment, Link2

Hi Platinum, do you have pictures? are you trying to make a small demonstrator? why not use a microwave oven transformer with the right cap you can make a nice coil. part of the problem is that 65w is not very much power and I wouldn't expect much. maby Mads web sight will help. try adding more capacitance

It's a DC flyback, O have a bunch of them, I got 6 leyden jars from bottles now, and I think that's enough.

Maybe it doesn't have enough turns?

Output is very weak at around 8KV~

The diameter of the primary core is 1.5" and it 11" tall, not sure about AWG of wire, but that's how tall it is, and that's how many turns there are.

I will get pics soon.

Anyway, I found why my SGTC is fail, I didn;t insulate the primary coil from the secondary, and now I'm using 7 250-1.5kv MPP cpacitors in series, and now output is about 40KV~

Is it ok to add MKP cpacitors to MPP's?

My TV also pucks up alot of bad static from the TC, it is also now grounded, output is much better, than ungrounded.

OMG, Sorry for double post, I'm pretty happy now, I've added some more MPP caps, and I've quenched the spark gap and otuput is very good, untuned, and it's sraying alot! to air, voltage it getting higher now, and it's pretty hard to keep everything safe form it, so I'm going to try and contain it somehow.

Pretty happy, output will get better if I add more caps (can I add MKP's to MPP's?) , do I use a ground by myself to ground the coil, because it's lighting light bulbs in my house up.

Anyway, I don;t have the tools, and materials to make a box or something for it, Maybe I'll use a shoebox like my coilgun is in. I'm also going to electric tape the secondary.

A shoebox will not sheild anything in your house from it. You need grounded metal, if you need an example look up "faraday cage", or you could just run it outside.

Also just adding more capacitors will not make it function correctly. A larger capacitance will help to increase your low input power, however it is more important to be in tune.

Without more input power you will never have huge arcs, however without it tuned you will probably never have any arcs.

Also do not use overcoupling to replace tuning, because it will quickly ruin the secondary.

I made my own ground outside my house, and I insulated the primary (as I'm so stupid I used bare wire, and the TC was wasting all power into the primary) and added a real tank cap consisting of MPP's caps, and output is about 80KV to a tiny bit of metal on a chicken stick , and 60KV to air.
