I started the day at 6:15 - damn - when my watch went off, I had forgotten to take it off alarm, that's when I normally start the day for work. My wife swore at me for waking her up; on a scale of 1 to 10, that's a bad start. Kept my head down for an hour, trying to get back to sleep.

Checked the turkey for being adequately defrosted, put it in the oven.
Drove 30 miles to get my mother, then drove straight back.

Several years ago we went into marital counselling, mainly on account of the fallout from her demanding that I fit 10 trays of "just another thing" into an oven which will only take 6, with the clock ticking before Christmas dinner. So now we have this agreement, she cooks the dinner solus, and if it doesn't fit in the oven we don't eat it. I wash up. Solves my guilt, stops her asking for the impossible.

Ate far too much, and drank far too much in the middle of the day. Openned my presents; several bottles of booze, a packet of felt tipped pens, and a few store gift cards. Drank some of my presents. Wrote my name on some of the remaining ones with the felt tiped pens (my sons are 20 and 22, clarity is essential, especially where alcohol is concerned)

Try to keep my mother amused, game of scrabble, quiz, look up Good King Wenceslas on wikipedia with the laptop displaying on the 37" LCD so she can see it, edit the entry for grammar.

More drink. I find that the secret of an enjoyable Christmas is to keep the blood level in your alcohol stream at a reasonably low and controlled level all day.

Went to my relatives house on Christmas day, big party lots of food and alcohol (civilised drinks btw) and my cousins boyfriend proposed to her at the end of Christmas dinner.

By 2am boxing day morning everyone had eventually fallen asleep except me. I ended up staying up all night to have a small snooze during the day.

I now have a sore throat and chesty cough and I am watching the hangover 2 DVD I got as a stocking filler.
