I've just got into editing the HVWiki. I've never done anything but read one before yesterday.
Anyhow, I've been working on the LC oscillator page because it was looking sad and empty. I drew some pictures for the page and uploaded/inserted them. however, I can't get them to follow my text very well and it all looks like crap. The edit buttons are all in the wrong place too. Please help, what'd I do? I'd like to space out the text so that it works with the pictures.

I did a couple of tiny changes to make it slightly better. Do not worry too much about how it looks, worry about the content. You or someone else will find a good solution sooner or later.
The simplest way to learn is to find somewhere that looks like you want it to look, then examine the code to see how it is done. In many cases it is not possible to get it exactly like you want. This is because you should put all your effort into good content and not waste a lot of time on style.
One solution in your case might be to make the thumbnails smaller so they are not taller than the block of text they belong to.

They look great to me
I would like to request that you put in some info about how 'real' lc circuits work (ie, modeling them as a lrc circuit), as that is how we need to think of them for a lot of purposes... You kind of mentioned it with the little blurb about Q, but it needs more. IMHO
Thanks!
I would put in what little I know, but I hope that someone knows more about it might be able to do a better job...

Things aren't turning out exactly as I had hoped either. I'm haveing troubles getting spaces between expressions in the math commands. And I don't really care what is said...I TRIED ALL OF THEM! It just doesn't handle text the same as it does under the math commands, and I can't get any spacing to work.
Looking at code, yes that does help a lot. I was doing that for a while and I printed out a lot of commands.
Just do what you think is right and put in effort.

You could try to span the whole line in a single set of math tags and use \quad or \qquad. That should work fine unless you want normal text in there too.

\quad and \qquad gave an enormous gap such that half of my preview page was empty space. I couldn't get those to work. There is some formatting that has to be done differently in math then text and im not familiar enough with it yet.

As a tip, when you're typing and come to a word that has its own page, like "energy", put it in double square brackets like [[energy]]. That'll make it a link to that page; an easy way to tie the wiki together.
There's no need to do it more than once in a section, of course. Just the first instance is enough.
BTW, the maths formatter has its own ideas on everything. It's possible to fight it to make things look nice but I generally don't stress all that much about it.

Thanks guys. I really liked drawing the pictures more than anything, maybe I'll do some more of that when I get around to it. Feel free to add anything you like, it's a Wiki after all!
