If you do not have citizenship:
* you could be extradited under suspicion of hostile intent
* you could legally be held indefinitely without trial
* you can be converted to a non-citizen at any moment
* as a non-citizen under suspicion of hostile intent you can be tortured

Vote for Stephen Colbert, because the federal government has already become a joke...

Sounds like another reason not to come to America on holiday! :(

Or did they also award themselves the right to come and do that to UK citizens on British soil?

That's horrific! The US may be the world prison of the future.
Wikipedia have blacked their site in protest today.

What happened to the US's status as a "free" country? Just look at China...

The U.S. has really never been a "free" country; nor has there ever been any kind of meaningful democratic process. There's no such thing as transparency and accountability in government - all we get are treachery and lies.

In fact, when you look at things closely - everything from politics, our financial institutions and our monetary system, our health care system, the judiciary, our organized religious institutions, our schools, our media - you name it - you can see that it's all a fraud...ALL OF IT.

Unfortunately, all of us born in the U.S. are subject to a thorough indoctrination, i.e., a brainwashing, that starts at an early age and continues for life. And now, as our criminal elite wax worse and worse, and as everything is sacrificed and plundered and general quality of life deteriorates, accordingly, and the end game of complete world domination and control at any cost becomes clear, the propaganda and the more subtle forms of coercion are necessarily giving way to the in-your-face police state that's being erected.

It's still not as bad as China though, read the Wikipedia articles on Falun Gong for a taste of what the Chinese Communist party do to any movement who piss them off. (Don't do this if you're in China as even reading about Falun Gong on the Internet is probably punishable by death)

Maybe the US police state will outsource its goonery to China, now that would be something.

On a related note, the US are trying to have a British student extradited to face trial in the states. His crime: setting up a search engine for pirate TV shows and raking in $230k of advertising revenue by bombarding his users with ads.

Right or wrong, at least what Chinese rulers are doing they're apparently doing for the sake of China, and not for the sake of a parasitical third-party foreign power and its traitorous, fanatical fifth-column.

OTOH, for example, as the U.S. economy continues to deteriorate and the middle class becomes extinct, our rulers are yanking Grandma off her dialysis machine and sending the proceeds to Israel in some form or another. I can "understand" someone plundering the economy, but plundering the economy for the sake of a foreign power? Words fail me. America's tyrants aren't just "corrupt", they're shameless traitors.

Lastly, a lot of the tyranny that you see in other countries is actually the result of U.S. interference. (I'm not saying this is the situation with regard to China in particular...but it could be partly responsible). An example is Cuba. The U.S. has been trying to overthrow the Cuban government for decades...they've tried everything from sponsoring terrorist attacks to assassination attempts to economic sanctions and even a failed invasion (Bay of Pigs).

The EU has accused Cuba of "continuing flagrant violation of human rights and fundamental freedoms", but what's the alternative for Cuba? Open up to "democratic reforms" and let the U.S. pour money into opposition groups and manipulate the elections, etc., etc. etc.?

Another example is Russia. Putin is openly opposed to U.S./NATO/Zionist efforts to conquer Syria and Iran, so the Empire is redoubling its efforts to interfere in Russian politics. As expected, the Empire is trying to hijack and manipulate opposition groups in Russia and to undermine Putin's political support. Thus I wouldn't be at all surprised to see U.S. sponsored riots breaking out in Russia after their next elections, for example.

In light of this I predict that if the Chinese government were to relax its grip, the CIA and would be in there the next day, working to subvert the Chinese political process and infringe Chinese sovereignty.
