What's with all the new display names on familiar faces here? Dr Quark? Quack?

p.s. I'm going to transmogrify back pretty soon.
Just wondered how many people usually spell kluge kludge? Link2
There's no d in refrigerator or, except at the end, frigid. But the name for mechanical icebox is never shortened to frig or frige. Kluge is also a common German surname, pronounced with a hard g and two syllables like Porsche.

It's an old meme that originally started years ago, when someone changed their name to Dr. Something and many other people followed as a form of satire. Dr. Spark and Dr. Kilovolt never bothered to change back.

Now Marko started it again by becoming Dr. Pork and changing his avatar to a pig. Maybe it is a protest against the poor treatment of vegetarians in his home country, or something. Hopefully everything will be back to normal soon smile

Uh-oh. An experiment just showed that strangers could squat on an idle display name.
Five minutes ago I was YetAnotherNameChanger, now I'm Inducktion.
Better stop this silliness soon.

[edit] It was fun being Marko for a moment. (Want to see it again?)
And John Malkovitch. (just kidding). Now back to the usual camping spot.

Bleh, who said anything about vegetarians? :P A far more probable assumption would be that I just admittingly started to exhibit porcine characteristics.

Normal is boring BTW tongue

The official spelling is Kludge. It comes from this site which I love and frequently go on (and call myself Queen Kludge at times... because I make tons of fail builds. Link2

You are naïve, child.
How can one credit a source which is younger than my hamster, and uses the word Fail as a noun?
[edit] I was referring to thereifixedit.failblog.org, not to you, QK. smile

This discussion at Wikipedia: Link2 concludes with:
"The Jargon File has a compelling argument (to me at least) in its entry on Kluge Link2 that the original spelling was Kluge, and is more correct. ... Wayned 22:53, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)

"I would argue against using frequency of usage as a determinant of what is 'correct'. Consider these Google search results:
'contact john or me' -- 139 hits
'contact john or myself' -- 370 hits

"A better determinant of correctness, at least in this case, is whether the spelling conforms to the pronunciation (inasmuch as such conformity exists in English). Does the word rhyme with "huge" or with "fudge"? Are there any words ending in 'udge' that rhyme with 'kluge'? I side with the Jargon File. Rsmoore 16:42, 18 October 2007 (UTC)"
