The core has plenty of iron so yes ironic
I admit, this made me laugh uproariously. And then I pondered my sanity.

Funnily enough last week I suffered my worst electrical-related injury ever: I dropped an (unpowered) MOT on my thumb, which completely split the end open and made the nail fall off. :(

I'll take pics tomorrow after I unwrap it. Hopefully it's still gory-looking :D

Another good reason not to allow you to power it....

consider this. a drop on the head is guaranteed not to hurt at first. 50ma throug your chest is may not kill you instantly like a hit on the head will. and boy is a zap scary.

An MOT puts out about 500mA+ in it's actual application, when unballasted that can go up to almost 2 amps. Even if it doesnt go through your heart you'll still die after a few seconds (at least, hopefully I'd will myself to death within the first few seconds).

If the MOT fell on your head, I guess it would be fairly painless. So I'll go with that option, for sure.

@ richnormand: It was already a used and abused one, but dont worry, I'm well aware of there severe flaws and safety issues.

Anyway, thumb has pretty much healed, but it's still nail-less, which is terribly weird when I try to pick things up, so Im still bandaging it every morning.

You may survive the MOT dropping. People have survied more, but electrocution is automatic death by definition so....

I have been shocked by a mot twice before, once was because of wet floor, and another was from I set the chicken stick on my bench and got my had to close the the output, it did not arc to my hand but I herd the air breaking down. Need less to say carelessness led to me wearing boots and wearing gloves used for people who service high lines... but I'm still alive but I would still say I would rather be strapped into an electric chair powered by a mot than having the blame thing dropped on my head!
