A bag of rice seems delightfully random. OK, I know it is not easy to take apart an iTouch and get the batteries out, but it really is important.

Rice is sort of the everyman's silica gel. It tends to absorb water from the air, so the belief is that submerging the device in rice will accelerate drying by creating a very low-humidity environment. Not sure if it actually works or not. I'd think that unless you're in a very humid environment, you'd be better off putting it somewhere slightly warm with lots of airflow.

This ipod's battery and wifi cease to work.

They're both dead.

have you popped it apart? try drying it for a week, maybe you can still use it for music, besides most apple stuff needs its battery replaced every once in awhile (my nano did). Batteries are no biggie. the cheap chinese ones are good enough. (but not equal to real apple parts)

Rice is dry. when ipod is in the bag, it sucks moisture out. its a fast and easy way to get water removed from electronics. even if you have a puddle of water in it, it comes out dry in a few days. Ive personally tested it with an old mp3 player that i dropped into a bucket of water, put in rice bag, day later i ripped it open and it was dry with no wet areas. Still played music as expected.

I'm the lab assistant in my chemistry class, and we have like 5 large jars of silica gel. Very useful for dehydrating things wink

Vacuum chamber?

Also, I had some success with the vinegar (LOL!) and peroxide trick where you leave the board(s) in the solution for about ten minutes then take out, douse in DI water to kill the vinegar then IPA, then dry in oven 50C for 1 hour.

Took a broken dead-as-brick Sony Ericsson W595 from a paperweight back to working.
Before it wouldn't charge or turn on even after multiple drying cycles.
Now the phone turns on but when off the backlight for the numbers stays dimly lit.
Otherwise works fine, makes and receives calls etc.
