There's a small device that uses plasma that can kill bacteria on hands and feet. Here's Link2 an article that decribes it.

Does anyone know of any construction details, and possibly a schematic diagram for this or a similar device? I did a cursory search on the web but could not find anything.

It *sounds* like just a sort of negative ion generator used to bath your hands in the various gases that are created from HV...

I think it's more than that. It probably does produce a plasma sort of like this plasma pencil: Link2

TNO uses dielectric barrier discharge and a stream of gas. I imagine the device in the article works the same.

This 2002 paper may give you some ideas:

Thanks to Pinky's Brain and Proud Mary for those links.

M. Laroussi is the Guru of atomospheric "nonthermal" plasmas, and is currently doing research at Old Dominion University. When searching for information about plasma and associated equipment, his work is mostly what I find on the web.

I've done some experimenting with generating plasma in a partial vacuum using air and also industrial Argon (the kind used as shield gas for welding). I've made some really cool and pretty glow discharges in my bell jar, but I'm really interested in seeing what kinds of plasmas that I can create in open air at atmospheric pressure. That's very challenging!
