Yeah, no ofense, but I would never spend 8 hours on a ladder.

If you can not find a better transformer you could make a voltage doubler like is used in a microwave all you need is a high voltage capacitor and a high voltage diode. that should make it easier so that you do not have to poison yourself.

People usually use a "Gabriel" electrode to start the arc at the bottom of low voltage Jacob's ladders. It's a third
electrode that's tied to one rail via a few large megaohm resistors. This starts a small arc and this low resistance
arc "brings" the electrodes close enough so the arc can jump across both the rails. From there, it drops the rail
voltage enough so the third electrode stops arcing and the main arc rises.

Here's a nice example of a "Gabriel" electrode:

Only thing is that I have very limited access currently to any large resistors. How much are the megaohm resistors? Hw many megaohms? What watt rating? I can ask my electronics teacher for one, maybe?

How much are they? Do you think my electronics teacher will be OK if I ask him for one?

You can get most component very cheaply online, but you have to pay shipping so if you do not need anything else it would be better to check a local radioshack. Resistors are rather cheap though, so it should not matter where you get it.

Not onlly the O3 that you can smell but the sputtered metals and vapourised coatings (if any) from the wires too. Use good ventilation, some of the toxic stuff does not smell.

i don't know about high, but i have choked on it before by blowing into a sealed chamber that still had some ozone as a quick test for leaks, when i let the pressure off a huge surge of it came out of the tube as i was taking a breath, I choked than gaged, then choked again followed by a lot of coughing, I never ever want to inhale that much ozone ever again as long as i live................it was worse than getting a lung full of chlorine by far..............
