First resonant transformer at 16 ys (it was not a tesla coil, I found a biography of Tesla at the secondary school library, and I was hooked). First working tesla coil (a little SGTC) at 28 (I discovered the internet)....then built everything I could.
Now I am not building coils anymore (no spare time at all). I became an armchair coiler, but still read the threads on 4HV very often.

Myself four surgeries this year, another one this week and another in Dec…that will leave one hand out of commission for three months with cast. So no coil building this year and three coils ½ done sitting in shop awaiting healing. Then next year both knees replaced and a hip in the near future

I saw my first Tesla coil when I was 15 at the San Francisco Exploratorium.

I am 43 now, so that was a long time ago... I always thought it was mega cool...

I built my first spark gap coil 4 years ago this month...
